FXTM is offering a new demo contest (titans) to all of its clients. The competition will be held in 4 rounds throughout the year with a pool prize of $80000 ($20000 each). Among the skilled traders, 5 competitors with the highest profit percentage will receive the prizes in descending order. The clients are required to register for myfxtm before or during the contest, agree to the terms and conditions of the contest, open a demo trading account and start trading to achieve one of the top positions. The contestants can only use cfds in forex and metals, and standard account MT4 (USD) for this contest. In the final calculation, only the positions whose duration is more than 5 minutes will be included. Every contender can participate only once.

MONOSPACE: flip dots with feelings, a javascript demo in 1021 bytes, winner of the 1024 bytes demo competition at assembly 2020.

The assembly is a demoscene event with the most anticipated 1kb, 4kb and full size demo competitions. I am absolutely thrilled to win, again.

This year, it has been difficult to find the mental energy to focus, but working on a creative project was a breath of fresh air. I began to work on MONOSPACE 4 months ago, going through prototypes and fine tuning many details, trying to bring a level of camera work never seen in 1k demos before.

Flip dots feelings in 1021 bytes

For MONOSPACE, the main inspiration came from plot writers and flip dots displays like the ones in train stations. After experimenting with speech synthesis in previous productions in 1kb and 256 bytes, I wanted to break the fourth wall. Another thing dear to me was to mimic a handheld camera that slightly shakes and goes out focus to increase the immersion in this monospace world.

Techincal tidbits

Unfortunately, mozilla still hasn't fixed the performance bug 1190398 around shadowblur, filled for BLCK4777 5 years ago.

Therefore you need to use a chromium or webkit browser to enjoy MONOSPACE live. To watch the packed version, you might have to allow audio/sound in the permisions or site or settings of your browser.

Otherwise, I recommend the video capture of the final result as that is often easier to watch than a production highly optimized for size and the hardware used for the competition.

Compression

On the technical side, MONOSPACE is compressed using the PNG bootstrapping technique I described multiple times. The hand minified code takes 1497 bytes before compression and fits into 818 bytes of DEFLATE stream + the PNG headers and the bootstrapper = 1021 bytes

Here is the setup of MONOSPACE. It takes 59 bytes to provide a canvas and rendering context.

The minified code of MONOSPACE itself is 1438 bytes long.

The goal is keep the heatmap of the DEFLATE stream as cool as possible which means that most characters take a few bits to endode, while a few charachters are red hot and take 8 or more bits.

Visual, audio & speech in a nutshell

The rendering uses 2D canvas, abusing shadowblur to render everything with the depth of field.

The audio uses scriptprocessingnode, abusing the onaudioprocess event to render the audio and visuals.

The audio and visuals feed each other to get perfect synch of the camera shake, depth of field and soundscape.

The speech synthesis, allows to speak out the function feeding the visuals, and the "feelings" of the flip dots display.

The bingbon philippines demo trading competition will take place from january 7th, 00:00 to january 8th, 23:59 (GMT+8), with a daily reward of 250 USDT!

Daily top 3 by P&L rate rankings can win an additional reward of 25 USDT/ 15 USDT/ 10 USDT accordingly. The total prize pool is up to 600 USDT!

Users use VST as margin issued by bingbon for demo trading; there are no requirements about principal/account asset amount.

There is no real value to VST, which can not be withdrawn.

Competition period: jan 07 00:00 — jan 08 23:59 (GMT+8)

Total prize pool: 600 USDT

Prize pool share description:
1）after registration, if the P&L rate of the trading settlement on the day is greater than 0%, you can join the prize pool share at 12:00 on the next day.
2）the P&L rate is calculated based on the VST amount of standard contract account, with no limit on the variety of trading pairs.
3）only participants with a positive P&L rate are eligible for prize pool sharing; the reward is distributed according to the proportion of the P&L rate.
4）daily top 3 by P&L rate rankings can win an additional reward of 25 USDT/ 15 USDT/ 10 USDT accordingly.

P&L rate = (VST amount after the daily settlement — initial VST amount) / initial VST amount (1. Positions will be forced to close at the periodical settlement time. 2. The initial VST amount for the first round/day is 100,000; the initial VST amount for the second day is equal to the VST amount after the settlement of the first day.)

The competition ranking will be updated every 2 minutes.

After registration, the VST amount in the standard contract account will be reset to 100,000 VST at the start of the competition.

Both isolated margin mode and cross margin mode are available for this demo trading competition.

The P&L rate displayed on the activity page only includes trades that have been closed.

Positions will be forced to close by the system at the P&L rate settlement time of each round.

If you are eligible for prize pool sharing, you will receive a reward notification in the [message center] at the upper right corner of the bingbon app/website.

Example:

Only users jack, tom, helen and calvin participated in this demo trading competition on that day.

The P&L rate settled on the day: jack 50%, tom 30%, helen 120%, calvin -40%.

Prize pool on the day is 250 USDT.

The P&L rate of jack, tom and helen is greater than 0%, so they can join the prize pool share.

Total P&L rate is 50% + 30% + 120% = 200%.

Jack can get the prize pool share 50/200 * 250 = 62.5 USDT.

Tom can get the prize pool share 30/200 * 250 = 37.5 USDT.

Helen can get the prize pool share 120/200 * 250 = 150 USDT.

As calvin has a negative P&L rate, he will not participate in the prize pool share of the day.

1) the P&L rate of 3 of the 4 users is greater than 0%, so only three users can get rewards in this VST trading competition.

2) users that violate the rules of self-dealing, wash trading, and using multiple accounts will be disqualified.

3) only the profit of VST standard contract trading will be calculated into the competition statistics.

Terms and conditions

After registration, the VST amount of standard contract account will be reset as 100,000 VST at the start of the competition.

The initial VST amount for the first round/day is 100,000; the initial VST amount for the second round/day is equal to the VST amount after the settlement of the first round.

Only the profit of VST standard contract trading will be calculated into the competition statistics.

Every round/day refers to a natural day 00:00–23:59 (GMT+8).

Bingbon reserves the right to disqualify users that violate the rules of self-dealing, wash trading, and use multiple accounts.

Competition/demo

We are so proud of our students who compete and do demos with us! Showing our skills and styles in public is a difficult thing to do. Many of these students took the extra time to come to our competition and demo class on saturdays to prepare.

Demonstrations

We have performed demonstrations at the iris festival, the festival of nations, the parenting fair, public servants appreciation day and the greeneville summer music fest.

The demo team is open to all students, so when we do demos people will see all ages, ranks and skill levels. They see how students progress through the ranks as the demo team performs different levels of forms, weapon, sparring and self-defense routines. And even with all we perform, it is only a small part of the many things that east TN tang soo do has to offer.

Competition

Our students have competed in tournaments across tennessee, virginia, the carolinas, alabama, georgia and even connecticut in open tournaments, including ASKL and any tang soo do run tournaments that are within driving distance.

We travel to fayetteville to participate in tang soo do tournaments and try to travel to CT once a year for a TSDMA interclub tournament and the USG national tournament.

We run a competition class every saturday from 9-10 a.M. Where we teach protocol, procedure, rules and behavior at tournaments as well as sharpening form and sparring skills for competition.
