Maybank MAE ewallet: how to apply, register & top-up balance?
Here is a step-by-step guide on how to apply, register and top-up balance for maybank MAE e-wallet.
Maybank has just launched its e-wallet service under the name of MAE. While it sounds really cute, MAE actually stands for "maybank anytime, everywhere".
While MAE is open to non-maybank customers, this guide is focused on a step-by-step tutorial for existing maybank customers with savings or current account.
First of all, you need to install or update (to the latest version) the maybank MY from google play or app store. Do take note that you won't be able to activate the e-wallet if you are using the older app version.
Once you have done installing or updating, fire the maybank app and let's roll!
Maybank MAE service is only available from 6am to 11pm daily
Rule number one, don't try this during midnight! According to the app, MAE service is only available from 6am to 11pm daily.
How to apply & register for maybank MAE
Step #1. Select "apply online" from the app menu
You have to first tap on the menu icon on the top-left of your maybank app, then select "apply online" from the menu.
Step #2. Select "create MAE ewallet"
From the list of maybank products, select "MAE create my amazing E-wallet" option to proceed, who knows it will be an amazing experience!
Step #3. Maybank MAE introduction
A splash screen of maybank MAE introduction will be shown, tap on "experience MAE now" to proceed.
Step #4. Complete the MAE registration form
Next, a simple form will be prompted. You just need to fill-up email and state (why?) to register. It is also mentioned here that you are required to top-up a minimum of RM10 to activate your MAE.
Step #5. MAE registration complete
After you complete the registration form, a strange screen like above will be shown. There is no success message or button for you to tap.
Don't panic though, you can try to exit or shut down the maybank app, then relaunch the app and login again.
For your peace of mind, you should have received an SMS notification and welcome email like above, to confirm your registration.
How to top-up maybank MAE balance?
Step #1. Go to accounts home screen
Go to the "accounts" home screen, MAE is listed as a new account separated from your savings or current account. You can tap on the "M" icon at the bottom-right to proceed.
While it is a good idea to split and cap the expenditure account, you need to get used to your e-wallet getting mixed with the banking accounts in the same app.
Step #2. Select "+ money in"
The user experience is not perfect here, look out for the "+ money in" at the bottom of the screen and tap to top-up your MAE balance.
Tips: don't forget to play the mini-game to win some balance to start with.
Step #3. Select "top-up wallet"
There are 4 options to add fund to your MAE balance:
- Top up wallet
- Split bill
- Request money
- MY QR
here, we are going to select "top-up wallet" to proceed.
Step #4. Select the account to top-up
If you are an existing maybank customer, you can select any of your savings or current account as the funding source to top-up your e-wallet.
Step #5. Enter top-up amount
Just enter the top-up amount to proceed, we are not sure yet what is the threshold allowed but you can only enter a maximum of RM9,999 here.
Step #6. MAE top-up success
This is better than the registration success screen earlier, with a clear message that your top-up has been successful.
Maybank MAE merchants' promotions
So what's next? The first question that springs to most users' mind will be, "show me the discount!"
While there are more than 200K+ merchants accepting maybank qrpay at the moment, you can check out the list of offers available in the promotions page.
Feel free to share your experience using maybank MAE in the comments below.
Ewallet registration tutorial
Ewallet registration – how to correctly create your ewallet accounts
Ewallet registration is a fast and easy process, however, you still have to take care of a few things. This article comes to give you more details about the security and the privacy of the information that you search and use on daily basis via your browser as well as some information to make sure your new ewallet registration is registered correctly. All you need to know is how cache and cookies retrieve and store data entered by your browser when you are visiting an app or website. Please pay attention to the facts below as your account can be linked to another affiliate without your consent and you can miss all great benefits with us for your skrill, NETELLER or ecopayz account.
We will start with showing the difference between cache and cookies and how both affect your daily internet experience in different ways. However, the important part are the cookies, because they are the main reason for messing with your sign-up.
- Make sure to clear your browser cookies or use a private/incognito browser window.
- Only use our sign-up link to sign-up your NETELLER, skrill or ecopayz account.
This will help you to make sure that the accounts will be correctly added to our program, so that you do not miss any of our benefits anymore.
Ewallet registration – what is “cache” ?
Web browsers, such as internet explorer, firefox, safari and chrome, use a browser cache to improve performance of frequently accessed webpages. When you visit a webpage, the requested files are stored in your computing storage in the browser’s cache. Clicking back and returning to a previous page enables your browser to retrieve most of the files it needs from the cache instead of having them all resent from the web server. The browser can read data from the browser cache instead of re-read the files from the webpage.
This process basically helps you to lower the loading time of web pages and creates a better user experience, which of course is important to al of us.
Ewallet registration – what are “cookies” ?
Cookies are messages that web servers pass to your web browser when you visit internet sites and your browser stores each message in a small file. When you request another page from the server, your browser sends the cookie back to the server. These files typically contain information about your visit to the web page, as well as any information you’ve volunteered, such as your name and interests.
This is how both tools can link, when opening your ewallet account, to another affiliate, based on the wording you have used when surfing through internet. If you don’t clear your cache, cookies and browser history frequently you may also want to consider using incognito mode.
Ewallet registration – private or incognito window
Incognito mode is an internet browser setting that prevents browsing history and cookies from being stored. You basically start with a clean slate and website you visit cannot see any previously stored data from you. It takes just two clicks and this is the way how you can do it:
Incognito mode with chrome
To open an incognito window, start chrome and click the three-dotted icon in the top right corner of the screen:
Private mode with safari
In the safari app on your mac choose file > new private window, or switch to a safari window that’s already using private browsing.
All you need to do is to follow this simple rule to get your ewo sign up and enjoy all benefits which come with us.
Become an ewo partner to refer new clients and earn commission
If you want to start referring new skrill, NETELLER or ecopayz clients and earn commission for all their deposits we are happy to provide you with personal affiliate links and your own ewo dashboard. Check your ewo bonus and commission earnings, refer clients, get free VIP upgrades for them and much more.

How does ewallet work
South africa is one of the countries whose technological industry is constantly making advancements. One of the greatest inventions that the country has made is ewallet. If you have not heard about it, you can now know how to use ewallet with these tips.

What is ewallet? Ewallet is a prepaid account that allows you to perform transactions, both online and offline, via your computer or smartphone. It works as a fast mode electronic wallet that allows you to perform transactions from the comfort of your home. The key requirement of owning an ewallet account is a south africa cellphone number via FNB atms, FNB cellphone banking, FNB online banking or FNB app.
How does FNB ewallet work?
Being a fast mode of transaction, ewallet works by allowing a user to send and receive money through their electronic gadgets. The first step of the transaction is for the user to load money into their accounts. The money is debited from the user's account into their ewallet accounts in the form of digital representation. Being in the form of the digital representation means that the money is with the service provider who is responsible for keeping ledgers and records of all the users and their data. Therefore, for any deposits that a user makes, the money is transferred from the user's bank account to the dedicated bank account that the user has chosen. The records of the ledgers are also automatically updated.
When a user chooses to send money to another ewallet user, there is no actual money transfer from one account to the other. Instead, what happens is that the ledgers are automatically updated to show that a transaction was performed and money was sent from your account to the recipient's account. The recipient receives an SMS after receiving money into the ewallet. That is how convenient ewallet is. These how to do ewallet operation guides will be beneficial for you if you are a new user.
How to send money via ewallet
There are different ways to send money, including:
- Using your cellphone
- Using online banking
- Using the FNB banking app
- Using any FNB ATM

Sending money is one of the most basic operations that you can do with ewallet. The operation does not require any form of two-factor authentication. The service is, however, available for anyone with a south african cellphone number. The procedure on how to send ewallet money via cellphone is as simple as:
- Dialing *120*321#
- Selecting the 'send money' option and clicking okay
- Selecting the 'ewallet' option
- Selecting the account from which you want to send money from
- Keying in the cellphone number of the recipient, for this case, the user that you want to send money to
- Entering the amount of money that you want to send
- Selecting the yes option to complete the transaction. That option will also authorize the service to send the recipient a PIN that they will require when withdrawing the funds.
The sender will also be required to confirm the details of the recipient and the amount of money that they wish to send. Senders are advised to be cautious when confirming the details of the recipient since they will be liable for any transactions that are wrongly conducted. Now you know how to send ewallet funds.

After you have received funds and wish to withdraw them from your ewallet account, the procedure for doing so is not as complex as it may sound. These are the simple steps to follow on how to withdraw ewallet:
- Start by dialing *120*277# for you to access your ewallet.
- In the list of options that will be displayed, select option 1 to get the PIN. You will receive a unique message sending you the five-digit PIN that will be required when withdrawing the money from the ATM. The PIN will expire after sixteen hours.
- Visit the nearest FNB ATM within sixteen hours after receiving the five-digit PIN.
- At the ATM, if you do not have an ATM card, you could opt for the cardless services transaction option.
- Select the "ewallet services" on the screen.
- Enter your valid south african phone number on the keypad and select the "proceed" option.
- The next dialogue box will require you to enter the five-digit PIN that was sent to you at the beginning of the transaction.
- Enter the withdrawal amount that you wish to withdraw from your account. The amount should be less than or equal to the amount of funds that you have in your account. The ATM will dispense the amount of money that you have keyed in.
- Verify that you have completed the transaction before leaving the ATM. In case you do not approve the transaction, you can select the " cancel" option to stop the transaction.
Apart from the ATM, a user can withdraw cash from the ATM or withdraw funds from any of the selected retail stores. The procedure is as follows:
- Start by dialing *120*277# for you to access ewallet.
- Select option 1 to select the withdraw cash option.
- From the list of options that will be displayed, select option 1, which is the "get retail PIN" option.
- You can then visit any of these listed retail stores in the country to withdraw the cash;
Sutherland ridge SUPERSPAR
- At any of the selected retail stores, you will be required to purchase a credit or debit card. This step is mandatory.
- After purchasing, you will be required to select the "withdraw cash" at checkout option.
- The following screen will ask you to "withdraw cash from ewallet."
- You will then be prompted to enter your phone number.
- The following dialogue box will require you to enter the four-digit PIN that was sent to you as a text message.
The cashier will then give you the money that you have withdrawn. There is no fee for withdrawing funds from ewallet. You need to, however, check the balance in your account by following the procedure on how to check ewallet balance.
